I used to think that manifestation was an intense wish. Like, if you wished and hoped hard enough, it would come true. That makes manifestation look more fantastical than anything else, but that is far from the truth.
Manifestation is actually the creation of our own reality. When we observe and accept our reality, we can cultivate practices and a belief system that can in fact make our hopes and dreams a reality.
I have to admit that I like the second version of manifestation better. It puts the power into our own hands. It is intentional and purposeful and makes it more than just wishing upon a star.
Having said all of this, I have to admit, I don’t believe that I have ever really manifested something specifically that I really, really wanted. However, I do believe that I was witness to a very special moment this weekend that involved manifestation.
My son, who is a sophomore in high school, is on his school’s football team. To be honest, I wasn’t sure what kind of season he was going to have. I have never really seen him play as this is his first year of getting playing time. So when the season began, I supported him for just stepping out onto the field. As it turned out, he has had a solid year. As running back, he averages over 10 yards a carry. He’s made some big plays and has helped set his team up to score. However, he had not been able to score himself.
His season is short. There are only 6 games and he spent 1.5 sitting out due to a concussion. So when game 5 came and he had a big run, only to be pushed out of bounds at the 10 yard line, I knew it was time to for some manifestation!
I gave my son a pep talk last week. We talked realistically about his progress, about his ability and about how he deserved to score a touchdown. So everyday last week, I would ask him what he was going to do on Saturday (the day of his game). I got all sorts of answer from him, like “nothing” or “going fishing.” I told him he was going to score a touchdown. My family even got in on the action, texting him and asking him about Saturday. I gave him some affirmations during the week too and by the time Friday rolled around, when I asked him what he was going to do on Saturday, he replied, “scoring a touchdown.”
I kid you not, the very first time he touched the ball, he ran for a 60+ yard… TOUCHDOWN! I have never seen my son run as fast as he did on that play. He definitely made that play happen. He MADE that touchdown a reality.
And that is how you manifest!
I am so inspired. π
